On television and journalism
Television, Bourdieu claims, has had a profound and largely detrimental effect on virtually every sphere of society, from journalism, justice and politics, to art, literature, philosophy and even science. All are in danger of being forced to submit to the 'commercial plebiscite' of audience rating as meaningful television debate gives way to a culture of the soundbite.
