The book is broken into three main sections, First Temple Period, Second Temple Period, and Later Periods. Just the names of the sections alone reveal that those primarily interested in the archaeology of anything later than the medieval period will not find this book as satisfying those studying ancient history. In each section there are numerous articles documenting either an excavation where significant finds were made, or simply the finds themselves. These are written by members of the excavation team and occasionally even by the archaeologist leading the dig.
