This book has grown out of a two-fold concern. The first is with our civilization, which is afflicted with a critical sickness. Wistfully, yet without much confidence, men are turning to the Christian faith, hoping that it may illumine the meaning of the crisis of our time and that it may provide some resources for meeting it. Yet men are not at all clear as o what they expect from Christian faith. Some hope to find moral vision and energy.
