The papers contained in this volume were originally presented at a consultation held in Bangkok in June 1991. The meeting was jointly sponsored by the Lutheran World Federation and the World Alliance of Reformed Churches, both based in Geneva, Switzerland. Both these organization, through their programs, have been committed to fostering interreligious understanding and dialogue between different religious communities. The present venture is a symbol of ecumenical cooperation between these two major Prostestant world communions in pursuing their commitment to "wider ecumenism".
