The concise dictionary of Christian theology
As a seminary student, first year, this book is just great. I think Wayne Grudem's Systemic Theology is a classic but this is a very close second and that is only because of the structure between the two books. What this book does is present many other views with the author putting forth his but that is just the issue it brings one up to speed on the latest views on the subjects presented in this book. One can easily see that the author is widely read and thoughtfully approaches each and every topic he presents. Now what the reader really recieves is Historical Theology with Systemic theology and Practical theology. This book is a great surface source for any theology research in addition it is far from dogmatic he actually presents how he reaches his views by presenting the other views. At times he shows how contemporary views are only dressed up older views for our theological consumption..
