Rhetorical thought in John Henry Newman
The central insight of this book is that Newman's intellectual stance-his theory and practice of inqury, argument, interpretation and judgment, is persistently and throughly rhetorical. Unlike previous rhetocial studies of Newman, however, this book operates above the level of analysis of style and strategies of argument, in order to articulate the larger methodologicsl context that renders Newman's practice philosophically intelligible and persuasive.
