Beyond tolerance: religion and global community
This is a book of personal reflections and opinions that seems designed to convince the reader, by way of a rambling writing style, that the religions of the world are essentially all saying the same thing. In an apparent attempt to prove the point, the author compares the major religions of the world largely by way of inserting quotes and passages from the scriptures and related writings of various world religions. The author plucks quotes and passages from the texts and scriptures that back up his thesis, while seemingly ignoring any corresponding scriptures or writings that might challenge his point. Sadly, the plucking becomes an exercise in taking scriptures and long established religious beliefs out of context. The author also does not seem shy about providing what seems to be a constant stream of his own personal interpretations along the way, a point which fairly well sums up the book.
