The church: message of the fathers of the church
Because the Church is ultimately a mystery it cannot be defined. The writers of both Old and New Testaments help us to a sketchy understanding of its nature and purpose by a series of impressionistic figures or images which in turn are subjected to exegesis and illumination by the Fathers.
