The queen and I: studies in Esther
Tucked away in the Bible in abscure corner of the OLD Testament is the little book of Esther. It is a delightful story of human love and palace intrigue set in the days of Israel's captivity under the Median-Persian Empire. It tells of a captive Jewish maiden who, through an amazing series of incidents, was elevated to the throne of Persia as its queen, and how God used her position of power and authority to preserve his people againts a Hitler-like attack. Even to this day the Jews celebrate the feast of Purim in memory of this deliverance accomplished through Queen Esther.
