The apostolic church
The Apostolic church is a comprehensive and clearly-written survey of the first-century Christian church by noted New Testament scholar Everett F. Harrison. Harrison begins with a brief description of the essential political and religious characteristics of the culture in which the early church began. Since the book of Acts is the main source of information on the rise and progress of the church, Harrison proceeds to survey the history of critical speculation concerning the validity and utility of Acts as a historical document.
