Ecology of care: an interdisciplinary analysis of the self and moral obligation
Fuller calls for a union of ethics and ecology and delineates an ethics of caring which has not only personal but universal dimensions and implications. He views this caring as "participation in the divine life," and as essential for survival. He believes that "practitioners of the cure of souls must also project a cultural vision that deepens each person's perceptions of the divine life, which ultimately empowers and bestows meaning upon the whole web of life. Overcoming moral blindness and adopting an attitude of care requires the sense of intrinsic value that comes only from a religious understanding of human fulfillment," but this perception must build on sociological, psychological, and socio biological ideas of person hood. Profound insights and wide-ranging perspective make this book worth the careful consideration of philosophers, ethicists, clergy, and other helping professionals.
