Marriage and ministry in the new temple: a study with..
The temple at Jerusalem was the centre of Jewish religious life. The offerings which were made and the religious feasts which were celebrated there were the basis of the people's life and the individual Jew's relationship to God. The Temple was the house of God and holiness was concentrated there. The whole land of Israel was holy, but Jerusalem was more holy than Israel, the Temple hill more holy than Jerusalem and the Temple itself more holy than the Temple hill, The holiest place of all was the Holy of Holies in the Temple.
